Donald Trump Has Started Enforcement Of Mass Deportation Of Illegal African Migrants

On Sunday, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency deported 130 people to Senegal, following “months” of coordination with Senegalese authorities to ensure “orderly repatriation.”

An ICE official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that the Senegalese nationals “were found to be ineligible to remain in the United States and ordered removed by an immigration official, in accordance with their final orders of removal.” A representative for the Senegalese embassy was unavailable to comment before publication.

The number of Senegalese deportations is a troubling sixfold increase from the 2016 fiscal year when 21 Senegalese people were deported, according to an official ICE report. Just the previous year, 17 of the 22 Senegalese people removed from the United States were deported for non-criminal offenses, according to a Department of Homeland Security report.

The recent increase may be a harbinger of more African and Caribbean immigrant deportations to come, given President Donald Trump’s promise to detain and deport some immigrants. He has also made it more difficult for people to gain humanitarian relief like asylum or refugee status when they arrive at U.S. ports of entries, which is one of the primary ways that African and Caribbean immigrants are able to successfully stay in the country.

Since Trump took office, a harsh spotlight has been cast on enforcement operations in Latino immigrant communities, with names like Daniel Ramirez Medina, Guadalupe Garcia de Rayos, and Daniela Vargas becoming household activist slogans. But African and Caribbean immigrants have not received nearly as much support, in part because they do not have a robust support system in the United States to help them win their immigration cases.

A 2016 Black Alliance for Just Immigration (BAJI) and New York University Law School’s Immigrants Rights Clinic report pointed out that there are 3.4 million black immigrants, but that they made up 10.6 percent of all immigrants in removal proceedings between 2003 and 2015. In the 2015 fiscal year, the ICE agency deported 1,293 African immigrants.

Those present at the event said when D’banj was introduced by MC to mount the stage for his performance, D’banj appeared on stage in his normal bling-bling mode of dressing and when he was introducing his song, the highly respected Bishop Oyedepo stopped him.

According to eye witness account, we were told that the Bishop’s gesture took everyone by surprise when he ordered the ‘Fall in Love’ crooner to stop his performance.

It was learnt that the Bishop while trying to maintain the good standard of Christianity, told D’banj to remove the entire bling on his neck and to be cautious of what he’d say on stage.

Although some of the people who were there told us Bishop Oyedepo uttered the warning to D’banj jokingly, however, not a few maintained that he meant every word he said concerning the star musician.

3 Million Nigerians Lost N18bn To MMM - NDIC

The Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has said while quoting the social media that an estimated three million Nigerians have lost N18 billion in the Phonzi scheme, popularly called Mavrodi Mundial Movement(MMM).

Speaking at the NDIC day at the ongoing 38th Kaduna International Trade Fair on Thursday, the Managing Director of the corporation,Alhaji Umaru Ibrahim decried that despite repeated warnings by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)  and the corporation, Nigerian's still patronise MMM.

Represented by the Deputy Director Corporate Affairs, Hadi Suleiman ,the MD emphasised that the creation, usage or trading in the Phonzi scheme in forms of virtual currencies,  such as Bitcoin, Ripples, Monero, Litecoin,Dogecoin and Onecoin as currencies for medium of exchange are Internet-based transactions and are not authorised by the CBN due to the risks involved in their operations.

He cautioned that any person or groups of persons who invest their money in the Phonzi scheme does so at their own risk.

He added,

Quote
"The Phonzi scheme is the phenomenon of illegal fund managers, popularly called "Wonder Banks" which have continued to defraud unsuspecting members of the public of their hard earned money. This phenomenon has been a source for concern because despite our repeated warnings over the years,  some members of the public have continued to fall victims of their fraudulent practices.

We would like to reiterate the fact that these fund managers are illegal as they are neither licences by the CBN to take deposits from members of the public not are those who patronise them covered by the NDIC deposit insurance scheme.  I want to also draw the attention of some cooperative society which often go beyond their primary mandate by accepting contributions from members as cooperative societies are only recognized to mobilise savings from their members. Mom buys land, then builds an entire house from scratch by watching YouTube tutorials

The internet can be an amazing place, and it just became more amazing as a woman and her family have shown the world a magnificent house, dubbed Inkwell Manor, that was built from scratch using Youtube tutorials.

Cara Brookins had just left behind two bad marriages, and knew that her and her children needed a place to live, but she quickly realized that the abusive relationship she had left behind had also taken a toll on her financially, and so she decided to take on a massive endeavor and build a home using Youtube as a guide.
Brookins then bought an acre of land in a suburb of Little Rock, Arkansas and began to build her dream home with her children. With a little estimation, she was able to guess that she’d only need about $130,000 to make it all come true.

“My oldest son, Drew, helped me draw the blueprint to get approved by the city,” she told CNN. With the approval in tow, she and her children got hard at work!

For 9 months, they toiled through, using Youtube, and a family friend who had building experience, when they couldn’t figure out how to solve an issue with the help of the internet.

The final product was done in 9 months, on March 31, 2009!

The house is 3,500 square-foot and dubbed Inkwell Manor because Brookins wanted a place to write. It boasts 5 rooms and a library!

She’s written a book about the experience, Rise: How a House Built a Family, and she hopes it will inspire people to keep dreaming big.

“I never intended to write a book. I was ashamed. But I think it is important to shift your perspective on any negative situation and do something big,” she notes about her experience.

“Never think of your situation as a solo journey,” she continues. “You can heal and grow together with your family.”

Life can throw unpredictable challenges into a person’s life, but Cara Brookins has proven that with family, anything is possible. The beautiful home represents their dedication to one another, and we can’t wait to see what they achieve next!
